Trade, Industry and Energy Director-General for FTA Policy Lee Min-chul (second from right) spoke at the Information Session on the ASEM (ASIA-Europe Meeting) Economic Ministers’ Meeting on June 29 in Seoul. The seventh ASEM Economic Ministers’ Meeting, a gathering of trade and economy ministers from across Asia and Europe to promote trade and economic cooperation between the regions, will take place in Seoul between September 21 and 22.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy invited around 40 officials in charge of economic affairs from embassies of the ASEM member countries in Korea to the information session.
Director-General Lee informed embassy representatives that the Ministry has established and operated a preparation and planning committee for the upcoming ASEM Economic Ministers’ Meeting since Korea was confirmed as the host of the meeting in December last year. He underscored that the Ministry will prepare well for the meeting, one of the most important international events to be hosted in Korea in the second half of 2017, in close cooperation with other relevant ministries and agencies, and the Seoul Metropolitan Government. During the information session, the Ministry also introduced the main program of the meeting, accompanying events, and tours arranged for the visitors.
