During their meeting, Minister Paik and Minister Hulot exchanged views on the two countries’ energy policies and potential cooperation in fields of renewable energy and decommissioning of nuclear reactors. The Ministers signed a letter of intent for bilateral energy cooperation, which covers a wide range of subjects including energy policies, smart grids including energy storage systems, electric vehicles, energy efficiency, and greenhouse gas emission reduction.
Minister Paik also attended the signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) on collaborations for decommissioning of nuclear reactors between Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power and France’s AREVA. The MOU calls for exchange of information and technological cooperation for decontaminating and dismantling radioactive facilities.
