- Minister Sung delivers speech on the 16th National Automobile Day in Seoul 2019-05-10
Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Sung Yun-mo delivered his remarks at an event held for the 16th National Automobile Day in Seoul on May 10.
During his speech, Minister Sung said that global competition in the automobile industry is intensifying as the paradigm is shifting from traditional cars that use internal combustion engines to future cars such as electric vehicles and self-driving cars.
Minister Sung added that against this backdrop, the Korean government will strive to build a world-class industrial ecosystem for future cars while preparing for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and tackling environmental issues such as fine dust.
After his speech, 31 automotive professionals were awarded government prizes and ministerial citations for their contributions to the sector.
The occasion was attended by some 250 officials from government, industry, academia, and research institutions. They include Lawmaker Hong Il-pyo, Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA) President Jeong Man-ki, and Korea Auto Industries Coop. Association (KAICA) Chairman Shin Dal-seok.
