- Trade Minister presides meeting to review exports in major sectors 2017-08-25
Trade Minister Kim Hyun-chong (second from left) discussed trade issues with industry representatives at a meeting to review exports in Korea’s major sectors in downtown Seoul on August 24.
Trade Minister Kim, who presided the meeting held in the Korea Trade Insurance Corp. (K-sure), said that the Korean government will actively respond to trade protectionism, strengthen economic cooperation with emerging markets, and help boost the link between trade and industrial development.
The Trade Minister discussed latest developments related to regulations on Korea’s exports and measures for them. He also reviewed the MOTIE-affiliated agencies’ plans to support exports in the second half of 2017 as well as trade issues and challenges facing domestic businesses including non-tariff barriers and difficulties in utilizing free trade agreements.
The meeting was attended by Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) Vice President Lee Tae-sik, K-sure Deputy President Kang Byung-tae, and senior-level officials of the Ministry. Leaders of associations and organizations from 11 major industries including Korea Semiconductor Industry Association (KSIA) Vice Chairman Nam Ki-man and Korea Association of Machinery Industry (KOAMI) Executive Vice Chairman Choi Hyeong-ki also joined the session.
