Trade, Industry and Energy 1st Vice Minister Jang Young-jin attended the 23rd Steel Day ceremony held on June 9 at the POSCO Center Art Hall, where steel industry CEOs gathered to discuss domestic supply chain stabilization measures and mid-to-long term competitiveness strengthening solutions, followed by an ESG mutual growth fund agreement signing ceremony.

 

In his congratulatory message, Vice Minister Jang asserted the need for “a private-sector-led, government-backed economic structure” and noting the steel industry’s position at the helm of the value chain as base material provider, he promised “firm support in mitigating industry bottlenecks.” He awarded 32 awardees for their contributions to the steel industry’s development, including the Silver Tower Industrial Award won by Yoon Yang-su, CEO of POSCO Steelion.

 

The event was attended by approximately 150 various industry representatives, including Korea Iron and Steel Association (KOSA) Chairman Choi Jeong-woo, Hyundai Steel CEO An Tong-il, and KG Group Chairman Kwak Jae-sun.
