- MOTIE co-hosts 1st Korea-U.S. Exports Controls Working Group meeting 2022-11-08
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE) co-hosted the 1st Korea-U.S. Exports Controls Working Group meeting on November 8 in Seoul with the U.S. Department of Commerce (DoC).
The Korean delegation was led by Moon Dong-min, MOTIE’s Deputy Minister for Trade and Investment, and the U.S.’ was led by Thea Kendler, Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration.
The meeting is a follow-up to the Supply Chain and Commercial Dialogue (SCCD) MOU signed between MOTIE and the DoC on the occasion of U.S. President Joe Biden’s state visit on May 21, a ministerial-level working group on the following four areas: supply chain, exports controls, healthcare and digital economy.
Noting the various bilateral and multilateral exports controls talks and joint efforts that have been held and made between Korea and the U.S. thus far, Deputy Minister Moon Dong-min maintained that this newly launched working group can be a channel through which mutual understanding and coordination schemes can be more effectively sought together.
The two countries decided to hold the exports controls working group on a regular basis and draw up a detailed work plan for future tasks.
