Minister holds evaluation meeting on World Expo 2030 Busan promotion progress 2023-02-07

Trade, Industry and Energy Minister Lee Chang-yang held a meeting on February 6 to evaluate the progress of World Expo 2030 Busan bid promotion and plans.

With the final selection coming up in November this year, the meeting aimed to assess promotion activities in detail, including plans regarding overseas negotiation, upcoming enquiry mission of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE), presentation competition, economic mission and public-private joint promotion collaboration.

Minister Lee expressed gratitude towards the World Expo 2030 Busan Bid Committee’s Secretary-General Yoon Sang-jik and other members for their work thus far and assured that, as the Minister of the Trade, Industry and Energy Ministry (MOTIE) in charge of the Expo, he will give full measure to gather efforts together through the joint public-private ‘Korea One Team’ and make sure Busan wins the bid.

He stated that, “the MOTIE-led public-private economic mission for 13 European countries will be swiftly dispatched in February”, and added that he himself, along with the Trade Minister and Vice Ministers, will join in the promotion efforts in person.
