Korea and France hold 19th Industrial Cooperation Committee meeting 2023-06-12

Trade, Industry and Energy Ministry’s Director-General for International Trade Policy Yoon Chang-hyun presided the 19th Korea-France Industrial Cooperation Committee meeting on June 8 to discuss green industries, supply chain, and advanced industries’ R&D in light of France’s green industry bill.

During the meeting, the Ministry’s delegation emphasized that France’s new subsidy standards for electric vehicles tied to low-carbon should not contain discriminatory elements against foreign companies. The two sides agreed to continue negotiating on this issue, and went on to discuss their respective supply chain policies on semiconductors, battery and critical minerals and sought measures for cooperation.

Moreover, both sides assessed that the Korea-France forum on new industries and technology cooperation, and their joint R&D projects, have been managed successfully since being launched in 2014, and discussed plans for this year’s R&D project and upcoming forum.

To note, in addition to the existing six R&D areas, aerospace and digital transition are to be newly added this year to deepen and expand the bilateral R&D between the two countries.
