Trade, Industry and Energy 1st Vice Minister Jang Young-jin attended the “20th Automobile Day” ceremony at the Grand Hyatt Seoul on May 11 and awarded 34 orders and medals of merit, including the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit presented to Kia Motors Executive Vice President Choi Jun-young.

 

Vice Minister Jang commended the Korean automobile industry’s accomplishment of reaching USD 77.4 billion in export last year amid difficult conditions, and again hitting an all-time high first quarter record of $22.9 billion in export for Q1 2023. He assured that the Government will support the industry in various efforts, including response measures concerning the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and encouraged win-win cooperation among finished car makers and parts companies. He awarded the Silver Tower Order of Industrial Service Merit to Kia Motors Executive Vice President Choi Jun-young for his contribution to raising the productivity and quality of semiconductors and minimizing their production setbacks.

 

The ceremony was attended by approximately 300 persons consisting of industry representatives and employees of various firms and associations, including Korea Auto Industries Corp. Association (KAICA), Hyundai Motor and KG Mobility.
