Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun met with European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis on June 9 at the OECD Paris Headquarters on the sidelines of the “2022 Meeting of the OECD Council at the Ministerial Level (MCM)” and discussed the new Korean regime’s vision and goals based on freedom, creativity and fairness, and exchanged views regarding the Korea-EU FTA implementation, climate change, digital economy and supply chain cooperation.

Minister Ahn also met with South Korea's OECD Ambassador Koh Hyeong-gwon on June 10 and extended appreciation towards OECD’s countering the pandemic and Ukraine situation, and promised Korea’s active participation in digital taxation discussions, relaying Korea’s stance that companies must not be overly burdened with administrative costs.

The trade chief then met with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann to discuss OECD’s role with regard to the pandemic, food and energy security threats and slow economic recovery from the Ukraine situation. They exchanged views on supply chain resilience, digital transition, and climate change, on which Minister Ahn shared Korea’s policy experience. They also shared views on Korea-OECD cooperation strengthening measures in terms of policies and people-to-people collaboration.
